My Current Skincare Essentials

I always get so many questions and messages when it comes to my beauty regime and I’m going to hold my hands up and admit that I truly am a skincare addict. I’ve always been one of those type of gals’ that are really into their skin and looking after it is a priority especially when you are in your twenties. Admittedly, I can’t really relate to people that don’t want to look after their skin – after all, you are stuck with it forever. It’s not like a partner who you can break up with if they disappoint or let you down – you may have a love hate relationship with your skin, but it ain’t going anywhere so it’s about time you gave it some TLC. One of my girlfriends recently told me that she sleeps in her makeup (she instantly regretted sharing this with me when she saw my reaction) – to say she got a stern telling off was an understatement. Here’s the thing, if you don’t give your skin a break from makeup, it never gets chance to breathe and the more likely you are to suffer with breakouts and let’s be honest, there isn’t anything worse than being covered in spots. For the last month, I have been trying out some new skincare products and since putting them on my Instagram Stories and receiving so many questions, I wanted to write a review of everything that I’m putting on my face so here goes.

Estee Lauder Take It Away Make-up Remover

As the first step in any skincare ritual, removing your make-up is of course, essential. I have tried so many make-up remover products and if you are looking for a product that gets rid of the majority of your make-up and dirt build up then this product is ideal. While it does state that it’s specically for the eyes and lips, I have been using it to remove the rest of my make-up. I would say that it takes about four cotton pads (soaked in the product) to remove all traces of make-up. Only use this product if you use a cleanser afterwards as it does leave your face feeling quite greasy. A little certainly goes a long way and the usage shown is after almost four weeks.
Tip – when using cotton pads, I always use both sides so I’m essentially using double the amount of product

Guerlain Lait de Beauté Satin Milk Pure Radiance Cleanser

Cleansing is one of my favourite steps in my skincare routine, and trust me when I say that I have used a hella’ lot of cleansers in my twenty-five years – instead of racking up men, I have been racking up high-end beauty products. When investing in a cleanser, we are all in search of different things and incidentally each have different expectations. Until now, I hadn’t used any Guerlain skincare products before, there hasn’t been any specific reason for this but when you are spending over £30 for a product, not only do you feel guilty, but you want to know 100% that it’s going to be worth every penny so change can sometimes be daunting – if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it. I actually don’t agree with this when it comes to skincare. I don’t know about anybody else but using the same products can get really boring and I want to experience what’s on the market and what products are trending. Anyway, case in point, this is definitely worth the money. If you are looking for more of a luxurious cleanser, that doesn’t dry out your skin and smells delicious, then this is the one for you. I have been using this twice daily (morning and evening) and two pumps does the job.

Guerlain Eau de Beauté Cleansing Water

So many people don’t include a micellar cleansing water within their beauty regime and it’s super important to do so. What need is there I hear you ask? If you want to ensure that the slightest of impurities and traces of make-up are removed, this is your final step in achieving that. Out of all of the micellar waters I’ve used or experimented with, this is hands down my favourite so far. My skin has felt incredibly hydrated afterwards and with using the Guerlain cleansing duo, I’m confident that my skin is completely clean – you only need two pumps and I have been using this in the evening only. However, if you have any break-outs or are OCD and generally feel like you need to use it in the mornings before applying make-up – go for it.

Elemis Hydra-Boost Day Cream Normal/Dry

Should you use a day cream? YES. Lots of people don’t invest in their moisturiser and if you want hydrated, radiant skin this product can’t be excluded from your skincare regime. I personally have normal/dry skin and have found that this product gives a good amount of moisture before applying my make-up. If you are apprehensive about your face feeling sticky/greasy, this day cream is ultra light and leaves your skin feeling balanced and hydrated rather than that ‘caked on’ feel.
Tip – If you have really sensitive skin an alternative day cream would be the Elemis Hydra-Boost Sensitive Day Cream

Elemis Pro-Radiance Illuminating Flash Balm

If you don’t fancy using a day cream, a flash balm is an amazing alternative. More importantly, if you have had a bad nights sleep, find yourself waking up with a hangover or are generally feeling run down – your skin is the first thing that gives this away. Flash balm is a secret weapon in hiding this and essentially energises your skin and reawakens it. It’s no secret to the people around me, that I’m not the best sleeper – on the days where I feel like a zombie, this has become my new go-to and angels, let me tell you – it’s crazy good.
Tip – if you are a little money conscious, you can also use this as a primer before applying make-up

Yves Rocher Botanical Native Cells Anti-Ageing Eye Cream

I can’t encourage using an eye cream enough – even when you are in your twenties we need to actually prevent ageing and fight against any signs of this. I have used eye cream for the last few years and definitely ensure that this is in my daily beauty regime. You can use this both morning and night, but I tend to only use it in the evening. If you are prone to dark circles and under eye bags then an eye cream is a god-send for you. This is the first Yves Rocher product that I’ve used and for the price I would say that the quality of it is really good.
Tip – apply with the applicator and use your ring finger to dab the product in

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant

For those of you that know me, you’ll know that one of my main bad habits is biting my lips – this, as you can imagine, requires lots of lip balm to avoid walking around with hideous looking, cracked lips. I usually use a Blistex product but thought that I would revert to trying something different – enter Elizabeth Arden. The thing I love most about this is that it looks like a lipstick and you can just carry it around in your handbag. Verdict: amazing product and a holiday essential
Tip – apply this before using lipstick and it acts like a primer

Elemis Hydra-Nourish Night Cream

I have no idea why, but using a night cream just makes me happy and is my favourite beauty product hands down. It’s really important to distinguish between day and night cream – a night cream is much more hydrating and nourishing. If you use this under your make-up, the likelihood is that your makeup will just slip off your face. Elemis is a brand that I keep reverting back to and incorporating within my skincare regime. I find that their products are such good quality and really are worth the money. For those of you that have been sitting on the fence about investing in this brand, I can hand on heart say that out of all of the brands I use, Elemis really stands out. This night cream has become my secret weapon to hydrated skin and I’m definitely going to continue using it.
Tip – you only need the smallest amount as it spreads super well
